Thank you Becky and Dave for providing this information. The bars you brought to our group meeting were wonderful!!!! What a great gift they would make for gardeners or anyone who works outside.
How to Make Hard Lotion Bars for Dry Skin:
Crock Pot Instructions: place 4.25 oz beeswax, 4.25 oz shea butter and 5.5 oz coconut oil in a crock pot. (Tip: I tend to melt the beeswax first before adding the shea butter and coconut oil, but I’ve also had success placing them all in at once) Melt, pour into molds and cool at room temperature.
Double Boiler method or microwave works just as well.
Molds can be soap making molds, ice cube trays, muffin pans, mini loaf pans or heavy plastic containers.
For easy removal of bars from container, place in freezer for 30 minutes and bars should pop right out.
Other butters can be used such as, avocado butter, mango butter, cocoa butter, and aloe butter, in place of the shea butter. Also palm oil in place of the coconut oil. (To ensure the same hardness if you’re trying a new butter, research the melting point of the butter that you’re using in order to find similar melting points as the shea butter or coconut oil.)
